Circular No 962

Newsletter for alumni of The Abbey School, Mt. St. Benedict, Trinidad and Tobago, W.I.
Caracas, 11 of April 2020 No. 962
-------------------------------------------------------------
Dear Friends,
This is part 2, continuation of the interesting exchange between oldboys and David de Boehmler
Part 1 is in Circular No. 961 extra.
---------------------------------------------
It’s so wonderful to see brothers from such earlier classes reconnect, Sir David de Boehmler
I try to pull you in over the years, but no bite however I did get hold of about 10 really older brothers that guided me in the right path and correct information of the time.
Sir Arthur Knaggs was the 1st to create a connection with boys of his time by mail as time went on.
Sir Nigel Boos had a group going also but they all disappeared,
Sir Ladislao Kertesz is where all of this is coming from he is the rebirth of our organization and Sir Nigel Boos became the list maker.
I jumped in a few years after, I ask Fr. Cutty why you don't write no more, he said his hands did not work no more ha ha , so I said I will write for you so I wrote the Tales of Knights of White Stones Mt Tabor, check in the Circulars ha ha
I got some fans from that and became good friends with Sir Trevor Evelyn, Sir David DeCastro (Calypso Bandit) and Sir Jon Golding and our UN judge Sir Lucky, and many other gentlemen, then I got more involved because I was getting the real stories and you know 99% of it is true.. ha ha
Anyhow before I forget, long long time ago I forgot my brothers I did not care if I connected or not but my friend my brother, I don't know what the hell happened, but I got this pull to get back to where I came from,
I call it the Light / and brothers I encountered was also coming from that Light, hence A Knight.
We all prayed, maybe someone else was praying for us
We were on Holy Grounds.
----------------------------------------------------------------.

(The Circular is also missing your articles, Glen)

Thanks for replying anyhow Neil.
And I fully understand how you feel about the subject of religion and God.
I think your feelings are shared by many.
Personally, I feel that religion in general has not promoted faith but hindered it.
Religion is full of manmade ritual and doctrine that makes no sense at all, so much so that it has repulsed people rather than draw them to God.
It has certainly been unable to stop wars, crime corruption, poverty etc.
Some say it has been complicit in these things.
But this is a deep subject that many have strong feelings about, so I am uncomfortable discussing the subject publicly.
I have very strong conviction myself (not blind faith) that there is a God and that he is fully Involved, not just in our personal lives but in World affairs.
On the web site that I posted you can ask any question you like and consider the answer in your own privacy.
Or message me.
I am happy to discuss any thought that anyone may have.
Keep well.
-----------------------------------------------------------.
Where are located now?
If I remember correctly, your family was in the transport business!
---------------------------------------------------.
That was my uncle.
My Father was in the oil fields and so was I for a while, but lost my way and ended up in Australia which is where I am now.
I am in the Gold Coast area, on the border of New South wales and Queensland.
Really happy about that, it is…
------------------------------------------------------------------.
Happy birthday Gerry,
blessings to you and your family my brother

bells
-------------------------------------------.
How do you dance to that?
----------------------------------------------.
ask someone's wife
These bells brought back a boatload of memories; last heard by me in 1965.
------------------------------------------.
Did they play the same tune back then"?
-----------------------------------------------.
Sound like a Roaring Lion caiso.
--------------------------------------------.
As I recall, yes.
However, bells are bells, ring them enough and they will remind you of bells, yes.
------------------------------------------------------.
The monks of Mount St. Benedict are reaching out in love with all their bells to all our essential workers so that you and I can stay at home and be safe...
-----------------------------------------------------.
How come we never tried to sneak in and ring the bell in the big church?
That would have been a challenge.
--------------------------------------------.
During my time 59/65 the big church was held in high regard.
You could say, it got off.
-------------------------------------------------------.
We were free to roam all over,
I like hanging out with Bro George who was in charge of the little shop.
-----------------------------------------------------.
We were only allowed to go to the sports field and back; no deviations.
We could stop in at the small shop but that was it, oh, and steal bread whenever you could. Cashew trees were off limits.
Outside the side gate by the basketball court was the same; mangoes same thing - banned from movies.
It seems you guys had a cakewalk, however we had more rules to break, which evidently was fun.
----------------------------------------------.
You guys were in prison, not school..LOL.
We were free to roam all over, our boundary was St Bedes, but above that was all ours including the cashew and mango trees
---------------------------------------------.
I was just reading my emails, which I don't do much to find out thru Sir Salvador Coscarart who got an email from Sir Stuart Henderson that Sir Arthur Knaggs had quietly passed away March 20/2020.
He was 88 yrs, I saw him for Sir Ronnie Lambkin funeral a few years ago,
I only met him a few times but oh what a great guy and so many great mount stories.
I will have to contact his wonderful wife (Val Knaggs) if I can find a phone number.
May our brother rest in peace,
As the Eagles fly over the Abbey school, our brother bids us farewell.
We would like to send out best wishes to Sir Nigel Boos who have had some medical issues and still dealing with same, we would like to send our love, prayers and support to his wonderful wife Lady Jackie.
May God Bless us all.
Long Live The Mount.
--------------------------------------------------------.
